Dear friends,
Help us continue our 'Honk for Impeachment' grassroots action to impeach George Bush and Dick Cheney. The impeachment movement is very real everywhere in the country even if the corporate media does not report on it.
While it is important that we continue to write letters to the editor and to our Congressional representatives, organize teach-ins and other public events, it is also important to exercise our Constitutional rights of free speech by coming out visibly on the streets and roads to remind drivers of the subject of impeachment. Honk for Impeachment actions continue to take place everywhere in the country.
We will stand on the median near the traffic light on Galleria Drive, next to the Metro-North Train Station. (See map below.) Park at Sam's Club, or at the train station parking lot.
Impeachment signs will be available. Signs will be distributed at the end (4 pm) to those who can commit to putting them in the ground at an appropriate location.
Feel free to bring your own sign.

Impeachment Demonstration Report: 01/06/2008 Action
Friends:
Thanks to all of those who came out to the impeachment action today at the Galleria in Middletown, NY. I think all who participated [and at least 35 of us were out there] would agree that OVERWHELMING public sentiment exists in our area FOR IMPEACHMENT.
The response was stunning. People were very appreciative we were out there, speaking for them. People clearly cannot wait for this administration to end. We are ahead of the politicians.
We should now dialogue about next steps: whether to do a repeat action next Sunday or whether to begin direct action at the offices of our Congressmen... All views are welcome and solicited.
To Democrats who claim that the impeachment issue will "detract" or "distract" from the election in 2008, let me make a few points:
1. In 1998-99, the Republican Party ran impeachment proceedings against Mr. Clinton. George W. Bush won the Presidency in 2000 [or at least came close to winning].
2. By 2/5/08, it is most likely that Mr. Obama will have won the nomination of the Democratic Party for President. The election is nine months later.
3. The Democratic party can finally stand for our people and our Constitution by forcing impeachment and accountability. Without a principled, strong stand for impeachment, the Democratic majority sells out our constitution and makes it a political commodity. It is NOT that and Americans have lost respect for the politics of usual, the devaluation of principle to expediency.
4. Impeachment is a PROCESS; we have probable cause to begin that proceeding and the investigation which should eventuate within 60 days in CHARGES. The charges then will prompt hearings before the Judiciary Committee which, as with Watergate, will learn more and disseminate more to the public about the details of the illegal and unconstitutional conduct of this administration.
Finally, if the House votes out articles of impeachment, the Senate will have a trial and will need 60 votes to convict. With impeachment, the national nightmare will be over and revalation as to the excesses and extremes of this administration will be had...
I am again appealing to Mr. Hinchey and Mr. Hall to assume leadership on this issue. We will take all necessary actions to move these men to represent the constitution now. Censure is inappropriate because it is not a response tailored to the gravity of the constitutional violations. Silence is less appropriate. Maurice Hinchey and John Hall have both benefited from the efforts of progressives who must demand accountability from them.
